The Nordic Cultural Institute is an interdisciplinary institute dedicated to cultural
policy research. The Institute carries out research on a project-by-project basis with
support from cultural agencies, institutions and research committees in Denmark, the
Nordic countries and the rest of Europe.
Since 1987 Head of Research and Associate Professor at University of Copenhagen,
Peter Duelund, has been the director of the institute. You can contact

Peter Duelund
Peter Duelund, born 1945. Masters degree in Cultural Sociology, University of Copenhagen.
Director, Nordic Cultural Institute, Copenhagen since 1988. Associate Professor in modern
culture and director for Centre of Culture and Politics, University of Copenhagen.
For several years senior adviser to the Nordic Council of Ministers in cultural policy and
the cultural cooperation between the Nordic governments. Has served as the Nordic Councils
of Ministers representative on cultural affairs in the Council of Europe.
Since the mid-1970s, Peter Duelund has conducted research on cultural affairs, cultural
development and cultural policy on national, Nordic and European level for the Danish
Science Council, the Nordic Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Cultural Affairs.
